Innovation and investment in Hadoop is growing at an incredible pace, and the adoption is being driven by enterprises that recognize big data and operational analytics can have a profound impact on their business. Not since Red Hat first brought Enterprise Linux to the enterprise have we seen this scale of open source adoption in large organizations across the globe.
But for Hadoop to continue its rise, it’s critical that organizations feel as confident running this modern data management framework as they do other business critical workloads. That’s why we’re so excited about the partnership we announced today between Red Hat and Cloudera.
The joint strategic development and market development alliance will deliver enterprise software solutions including data integration platforms and application development tools to help customers extract value from their data quickly and cost effectively.
Our relationship with Red Hat means customers can more easily run their enterprise data hub on the hybrid cloud or on a virtualized Linux environment with the integration of Cloudera Enterprise to the Red Hat Enterprise Linux OpenStack Platform and Red Hat Enterprise Linux OpenShift. In addition we are collaborating on tighter integration with Red Hat Enterprise Linux and OpenJDK, Red Hat JBoss Data Virtualization and the Red Hat Storage Portfolio.
Integral to the partnership is our mutual work with Intel. Together with Intel and Red Hat, we are accelerating big data adoption by making it more enterprise ready. A Cloudera-Intel-Red Hat solution brief is available at this link, for organizations looking to accelerate their adoption of Hadoop and manage big data workloads in a hybrid environment. Specifically, there are three key areas of focus:
- Security and compliance – Cluster, OS and chip-level security including data access, encryption and key management, identity management and governance
- Performance – Multiple Intel architecture optimizations in processing, networking and storage for Cloudera Enterprise and Red Hat Enterprise Linux
- Deployment and management – Flexible deployment options including bare metal, cloud, or hybrid deployment model with open cloud APIs for quick, elastic provisioning. This extends to seamless management from the datacenter hardware and infrastructure to the operations, lifecycle and security of the data.
This is a big moment in the big data roadmap of the three companies, and it’s only the beginning from a technical integration standpoint. We’re continuing to explore new opportunities to further enable our joint customers. Stay tuned.
